General Characteristics:

The sapwood of beech is white with a red tinge, while the heartwood is light to dark reddish brown. It has a straight grain with fine, even texture and characteristic fleck.

Uses:

Excellent for steam-bending birch is used for chairs, furniture, tool handles, workbenches, and musical instruments.
